He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Avance and Rosie Avance; his brother Otis Farrow; his uncles, William and Johnny Avance; and his brother-in-law James Fitch.
He is survived by : his children, Krystal Thompson (Andre) of Honolulu and Joseph Avance III (Kimberly Avance) of Niles; his grandchildren, Andre Thompson, Jr., Amari Thompson, Joseph Avance IV and Andrew Thompson; his siblings, Bert Lillie (William) of Niles, Nancy Fitch of Niles, Janet Mantle of Niles, Morton Avance (Karin) of Elkhart and Terrance Avance of Indianapolis; and also Dejonay Biles-Morseau. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
