He was predeceased by: his parents, Irene Deka (Duff) and Dick Deka; Ronald Deka and Susie Deka. He is survived by: his children, Samantha Thalman (Scott) of Niles and Jason Deka (Amy) of Edwardsburg, Michigan; his grandchildren, Samson Thalman and Scarlet Thalman; and his wife Kathy Deka (Robinson). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
