John Robert Skrobe Obituary
John Robert Skrobe, 82, of Novi, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, in Milford, Michigan. Born on March 15, 1944, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, John lived a fulfilling life dedicated to his family, career, and the simple pleasures that brought him joy.
John devoted over four decades to Ford Motor Company’s Sheldon Road Plant. Beginning as a hi-lo driver, he advanced through the ranks to become a financial secretary and later served as a UAW (Local 845) employee resource coordinator (ERC). His dedication extended beyond his roles as he actively participated in several committees during his tenure. John’s career was a testament to his strong work ethic and his ability to connect with others meaningfully.
In his personal life, John cherished life’s quieter moments. He enjoyed sitting on the back porch with a cigar, relishing the serenity of the outdoors. He shared many happy times with his wife Diana at the casino and looked forward to buying weekly lottery tickets, always dreaming of hitting the jackpot. In his younger years, John’s adventurous spirit was a defining part of his character.
John was a devoted husband to Diana Skrobe (Simonds) of Novi and a loving stepfather to Amber Mida (Samuel Gasaway) of Novi and Erik Mida (Jill Mida) of Belleville. He took immense pride in being a grandfather to Annabelle, Matthew, Lucas, and Ezekiel Mida. John is also survived by his brothers Daniel Skrobe, William Skrobe, Michael Skrobe, and Kevin Darley. He was predeceased by his mother Eleanor Darley (Keon) and brothers Ronald Skrobe and Richard Skrobe.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to a local humane society or animal rescue in John’s memory. John dearly loved his furry grandchild, Maxie, whom he deeply missed after her passing in December, and he often spoke about getting another cat.
John will be remembered for his sense of humor, loving nature, and zest for life. May those who knew him find comfort in their memories and carry forward the joy he brought into their lives.
