He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. C. J. Kirwan and Josephine Kirwan (Doyle); and his siblings, John Kirwan (Helen) and Jean Pinkelman (Frank). He is survived by: his wife Mary Ellen (Brady); his children, John Fitzpatrick (Marge), Michael Fitzpatrick, Mary Pat Stephenson (Scott) and Katie Prescott (Richard); his grandchildren, Aidan, Mary Kelly, Brigid, Griffin, Clare, Meghan, Micky and Patty; and his pet Patrick. He is also survived by many in-laws.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the O'Brien Sullivan Funeral Home (41555 Grand River Ave, Novi, MI 48375). A rosary will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. James Catholic Church (46325 W 10 Mile Rd, Novi, MI 48374).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital http://www.stjude.org. or the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
