He is survived by: his sister Betty; his grandchildren, Steve and Ellie; his brother Roger Hecksel; his siblings-in-law, James Mackay, Ed, Barb Termeer and Marla Hecksel; his wife Sandra Hecksel (Davidson); his brother Bill Hecksel; his sister-in-law Joan Hecksel; his children, Connie Hecksel, Julie Norman (Steven), Sharon Sanford (Pat) and Steven Hecksel (Sarah); and his grandchildren, Emma Norman (Trevor Bickelhaupt), Owen Norman, Luke Sanford, Sylvia Sanford, Joel Sanford, Elizabeth Hecksel, Liam Hecksel and Wesley Hecksel. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations can be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church and Faith Hospice.
