She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Louise "Kitty" Schrum and Charles "Chuck" Schrum; her husband A. Richard "Dick" Cardillo; her sister Mary Lee "Lee" Jewell; her mother-in-law Lena Cardillo; and her siblings-in-law, Arnold Cardillo (Mary), Ruth and Lorraine Cardillo.
She is survived by: her daughter Mary Cathleen "Cathy" Fitzner (Cardillo); her son-in-law Steven Fitzner; her grandsons, Michael and John Fitzner; her nephew Richard Cardillo (Deanne); and her nieces, Sandra Cardillo Shifrin (Jeff) and Susan Cardillo Nolen.
She was active in the First Baptist Church in Charlotte until COVID and Shirley's subsequent health issues made it difficult for her to remain so.
