He is survived by: his wife Joanne Orzel of Orleans; his granddaughter Emi; his children, AJ Mayer (Katie) of Ionia, Tim Rhodes (Alex) of Ann Arbor and Joe Mayer (Kelsi) of Ionia; his granddaughter Emilia; his siblings, David Mayer of Detroit, John Mayer (Susan) of New Baltimore, Sue Allard (Dave) of Leslie, Betsy Gadzinski of Roseville and Shirley Groulx (Terry) of St. Johns; his in-laws, Cecelia Clarke (Randy), Frank Orzel, Rosemary Hanna, Sharon Chisholm (Matt), Mary Callies (Dave), Rita Griffor (Mark) and Kris Moloci (Mark); his nephew Al; and his in-laws, John Orzel (Angie), Mark Hanna, Mike Orzel (Allison) and Beth Zakar (Tom).
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Lake Funeral Home (3521 S State Rd, Ionia, MI 48846). A memorial service was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
