He was loved and cherished by many people including : his wife Charlotte; his children, Heather Prater, Gayle Schleben (Rick) and Tina Parry (Jason); his grandchildren, Delaney Falkenhagen (T. J.), Morgan Ireland, Rikkie Schleben and Alizabeth Parry; and his siblings, Mike Prater and Candy Mapes.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Lewis E. Wint and Son Funeral Home (5929 S Main St, City of the Village of Clarkston, MI 48346). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Ottawa Park Cemetery (6180 Dixie Hwy, City of the Village of Clarkston, MI 48346).
