He was predeceased by : his wife Marlene; and his brothers, Gary Engel (Camie), Gilbert Engel (late Adelle) and Milton Engel. He is survived by : his children, Doug Engel and Pam Stout (Rick); his grandchildren, Tyler Stout (Bryce) and Tori Boone (Jacob); and his siblings, Darla Koenig (David), Diane Engel and Tom Engel (Patricia).

Visitation was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lewis E. Wint and Son Funeral Home (5929 S Main St, City of the Village of Clarkston, MI 48346). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. The military honors was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 at 9:00 AM at the Great Lakes National Cemetery (4200 Belford Rd, Holly, MI 48442).
