He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Ponitz and Evelyn Ponitz (Schmidt); and his brother Dr. James Ponitz. He is survived by: his wife Jane McClellan Allan; his children, Mark Ponitz (Rebecca) of Plainwell, Marsha Kohlhoff (Brian) of Otsego and Michelle Zimmer (Jason) of Kalamazoo; and his brother John Ponitz (Nancy) of Rochester Hills. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
