He is survived by: his wife Lynette Slater; his children, Kaylene Slater, Zackary Slater, Devon Slater (Jessica), Nathan Slater and John Newnham; and his siblings, David, Willie, Tony, Kenneth, Tina and Pamela. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
