He is survived by: his wife Michelle Nelson (Ayotte); his stepchildren, Danielle Pinette of Massachusetts, Sarah Uren (Tanner) of Green Bay and Gerry Pirkola (Paige Briggs) of New York; his grandchildren, Averie, Cole Kelly and Laney Jean Pirkola; his siblings, Mike'Tex' Nelson (Susie) of Negaunee Township, Karen Martin (Todd) of Marquette and John Nelson (Francine) of Arizona; his nephews, Adam Nelson (Stevie), Danny Novak (Iva) and Michael Novak; his niece Carly Nelson; and his close friends, Dave'Barney' Korpi (Kay) and Brad Holman.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Koskey Funeral Home (106 W Main St, Negaunee, MI 49866).
