He was predeceased by: his mother Nellie; and his sister Karen Kerr. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Bos; his children, Stephen Smart, Kimberly Wood (Bos) and Kristy Kiser (Smart) (Mark); and his sisters, Marlene Stoops and Linda Selburg. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
