She was predeceased by: her parents, Emma Hall and Ted Smith; her sons, Albert Taylor of Taylorsville, Travis Taylor of Lawrence and Richard Taylor of Kalamazoo; and her brothers, James and Gary Smith of Columbus, Indiana..

She is survived by: her husband Melvin Wharton; her sons, Don Brown of Elizabethtown, Dewayne Taylor of Columbus and Terry Brown of Gobles, Michigan; her stepdaughter Ginger Muniz (Mario) of Bangor, Michigan; her siblings, Norman Smith (Tammy) of Columbus, Steven Smith (Polly) of Freetown, Indiana, Ruth Hunter (Mike) of Freetown, Cathy Newby (Gordy) of Seymour and Ebbie Burdine (Lenard) of Seymour, Indiana; and her siblings-in-law, Gordon Wharton (Dawn) and Sharron Jennings (Scott) of Margate, Florida.. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
