He was predeceased by: his parents, John W. C. and Margaret Smith (Dashner); his son Joseph R. M. Smith; and his siblings, Margie Kalbaugh (Roy), Arlen R. Smith (Kathy) and Janet Rogers (Bud).
He is survived by: his wife Patsy Smith of Petoskey; his sons, John Smith (Mary) of Nisula, MI. and Gary Smith (Lawrence Myers) of Ste. Genevieve, MO.; and his grandchildren, John C. I. Smith (Mariah) and Genevieve Smith (Bobby Southall). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Joseph R.M. Smith Memorial Scholarship through St. Francis Schools would be greatly appreciated.
