It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Martin Joseph Van De Car of Petoskey, Michigan, who passed away on August 11, 2022, at the age of 58, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Martin King, Sr., Mary (Wright) and Charles VanDeCar, Sr.; his mother Sarah VanDeCar (King); his uncles, Richard King and Martin King, Jr.; and his cousin David King.
He is survived by: his sisters, Kathy and Annette VanDeCar; his father Charles VanDeCar Jr.; his aunts and uncles, Rose Smalley, Donna Russell (Alan), Cora Grody, Ann VanDeCar, Dennis King, Frank King (Katie), Bill VanDeCar, Bob VanDeCar and Carl VanDeCar; his cousins, Marie Newman (Norm Blumke), John Kenoshmeg, Sr. (Liz) and Cindy Schuyler (Bill); and his close friends, Lila Bertram and Michael Bodjiak. He is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family will be working on either a memorial tree/bench on tribal or city property; scholarship in his honor; or donations to his favorite organization's like Boys and Girls Club.
