He was predeceased by: his parents, Alice Hokanson Mottl and Joseph J. Mottl; his former wife Carol Oelke Mottl; his brothers, Jim and Don Mottl; and his sister-in-law Sharon Mottl.
He is survived by: his wife Marla Kay Houghteling; his children, Nathan Mottl (Tammy) and Melisandre Mottl (Denise McGiboney); his grandson Nicholas; his nephews, Bob, David and Brian Mottl; and his sister-in-law Mary Oelke. He is also survived by partners, several grand nieces and a grand nephew.
