He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellaree Wachter, (Davenport) and William Wachter, Jr. (Richard); and his siblings, Donald Wachter (Lois), Cy Wachter (Gen), Winnie Wertz (Bob) and Gary Wachter.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Vallier of Petoskey; his children, Brian Wachter (Linda Anderson) of Cheboygan, Brenda Kulbieda (Mark) of Petoskey and Beth Albrecht (Bill) of Carp Lake; his grandchildren, Brennon Wachter, Ellaree Wachter, Alicia Konicki (Kris), Ashley Reeve (Tyler), Faith Kulbieda and Jackson Kulbieda; his great grandchildren, Harlan Reeve, KJ Konicki and Lucy Konicki; and his brother Geno Wachter (Sandra) of Marquette. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
