He was predeceased by : his parents, Louis Thelen and Hilda Thelen (Fox); his siblings, James Thelen and Donna Kramer; his brothers-in-law, Philip Kramer and David Hanses; and his nephews, Philip Kramer and Stephen Field.

He is survived by : his wife Mary Ann Thelen (Feldpausch); his children, Sandra Wolniakowski (Steve), Todd Thelen (Stephanie), James Thelen, Michael Thelen (Amy), Douglas Thelen (Bobbi), Anthony Thelen (Celena) and Kerri Bengel (Ryan); his siblings, William Thelen (Diane), Donna Jean, Kate Hanses (David), Bonnie Pearson (Bob) and Sue Thelen; and his sister-in-law Mary Ann Thelen (James). He is also survived by 26 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
