Bret R. Witte Obituary
Bret R. Witte, aged 57, passed away on March 19, 2025, at the Bay. Special Care Facility. Born on July 7, 1967, in Bay City, Michigan, he was the cherished son of the late Ronald and Geraldine (Woods) Witte. Bret was a loving son, father, uncle, and cherished companion of Kathy Trask, who stood steadfast by his side for many years.
Bret's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his capacity for kindness. He was a devoted father to his children, James, Jeremiah, Jared, Kylie, and Kaitlyn Witte. His life was blessed with the love and laughter of numerous aunts, uncles, and friends. Bret navigated his life's journey with the memory of his parents, his infant daughter Samantha Witte, his sister Geri B. Witte, and brother R.J. Witte, all of whom predeceased him.
A member of Hope Lutheran Church, Bret's faith was reflected in his actions and his commitment to his community. He was an entrepreneur, known for founding the Rhodes Raceway in 2020, a venture that brought joy to many and showcased his passion for the automotive world. Bret was a dynamic force in the family business, Independent Well Drilling, where he worked as an owner-operator alongside his father for over four decades. His dedication extended to his role as a local sexton for numerous cemeteries, a testament to his respect for the final resting places of others. Bret also applied his expertise to the grading of ORV trails, a task he performed with enthusiasm and skill.
Bret's love for adventure and the great outdoors was evident in his interest in mud bogging and his talent for building toy vehicles. His fishing trips to Canada were among the highlights of his year, offering him precious moments of tranquility and reflection. Above all, Bret loved his family dearly, placing them at the center of his universe. He was a pillar of strength, support, and love to all who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 12 noon from Hope Lutheran Church with Pastor Reed Schroer presiding with cremation to follow. Friends may visit at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home on Monday, from 2 pm until 8 pm. On Tuesday, Bret will lie in state at the church from 10 am until time of service.
