Charlotte M. Wojda Obituary

Charlotte M "Lottie" (Gromaski) Wojda passed away at home surrounded by her family on June 18, 2026, at the age of 90.

Charlotte was born on March 12, 1936, at the family farm in Pinconning, MI to Walter and Ludvina (Kessler) Gromaski, the fifth of nine children. Growing up on the family farm, she embraced the demands of farm life, milking cows and tending the fields, experiences that shaped her character and lifelong dedication to hard work. She cherished the close relationships she shared with her siblings whose love and companionship brought her so much joy. She graduated from Pinconning Area schools in 1954 where she developed a love of learning and education.

Shortly after graduating, while working as a waitress at a cafe in Pinconning, she met the love of her life Stanley M. "Stosh" Wojda. She always commented on how patient he was and often humbly wondered how he chose her. Stanley and Charlotte married on April 16th, 1955, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pinconning. Together they raised one daughter and five boys, all of whom were the source of her pride and joy. In 1962, they built their family home on her childhood farm and was the place she called home since.

Charlotte's love for teaching allowed her to dedicate 21 years as a paraprofessional at Pinconning Area Schools from which she retired in 1994. She spent her retirement enjoying her grandchildren, giving them invaluable knowledge about gardening, raising chickens, and the pride that comes from hard work. As a devoted Traditional Roman Catholic she immersed herself in the traditional teachings of the Catholic faith, even learning Latin to attend Latin Mass. She also dedicated several years to teaching Catechism at St. Mary's Church.

After 43 years, her time with Stanley was cut short by illness, but she remained his compassionate and attentive caregiver until his passing in 1999. His loss had a profound impact on her, but she carried his memory faithfully and she is now reunited with him in eternal rest.

She survived by her children Sheryl (Paul) Korthals, Mark, Tom (Tina), Mike (Linda), Bert (Connie), and David (Pamela); 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, her sister Carol, her brother Wally, and daughter-in-law Darlene. She is preceded in death by her husband Stanley parents Walter and Ludvina, her siblings Donald, Mary, Dorothy, Ben, Helen and Joanie.

A special acknowledgment to her daughter Sheryl and daughter-in-law Pam for the devotion and care they provided to Charlotte, especially in the last year. They ensured she was honored and well cared for.

Thank you to Schnepp Senior Care in St. Louis, especially the care team in the Garden unit for their care and compassion. Special thanks to Charlotte's favorite nurse Janice and Nursing Manager Samantha. Thank you to The Care Team Hospice especially Dan and Joan who were able to bring comfort to both Charlotte and her family.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 11 am from the Infant of Prague Mission with Rev. Fr. Todd Anderson presiding with burial in St. Mary's Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home on Monday, from 1 pm till 8 pm. On Monday, a Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm. On Tuesday, Charlotte will lie in state at the church from 10 am until time of mass.
