Gerald Barcia Obituary

Gerald Barcia, a beloved patriarch and cherished member of the Pinconning community, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on July 6, 1938, in Bay City, Michigan, Gerald's life was marked by adventure and a profound commitment to his family and work. Gerald's life journey began in the welcoming arms of his parents, Truman and Bernadine (Soper) Barcia. He grew up alongside his siblings, forging a path that would be defined by resilience and a zest for life. Though he would eventually say goodbye to his parents and brothers Lewis, Elmer, Clifford, and Thomas, as well as his precious granddaughter Britnie, Gerald's legacy was one of enduring love and strength. The heart of Gerald's world was his family. He found love three times over, first with the late Ardis (Carol) Hemstreet, then with Carol (Cooley) Barcia for a remarkable 50 years, and later with Carol Salgat. Together with Carol Cooley, he raised a beautiful family, including his devoted children Jerrilyn (James) Schindler, Susan (Theodore) Musinski, Karen (Philip) Zywicki, Michelle (Brian) Campbell, Kimberly (Joseph) Krzyminski, and Gerald (Paula) Barcia Jr. His role as a father was one he cherished deeply, and it only expanded with the arrival of his adored grandchildren Joshua, Bradley, Heather, Thomas, Nicole, Kayla, Erica, Jenna, Chad, and Chelsea, as well as his treasured great-grandchildren Gibson, Sylvie, Kyle Jr, and Noelle. Gerald's sister, Carol Cuthbert, will remember her brother's kindness and adventurous spirit. His love for life was contagious, and he had a unique ability to make every moment count, whether he was spending time with his family or engaging in his favorite pastimes. Professionally, Gerald was a man of many talents.

His career began in the U.S Air Force where he served is country. Then he became an ambulance driver, which showcased his innate desire to help others. He then became a union painter, leaving a mark of excellence on every project he touched. The entrepreneurial spirit in Gerald led him to become the owner and operator of Jerry's Auto Body, where his work ethic and integrity were unmatched. Later, he found joy in running the Rainbow Resort, where he combined his love for people with his passion for the great outdoors. An avid outdoorsman, Gerald's interests included fishing and hunting, activities that not only brought him peace but also allowed him to forge lasting bonds with friends and family. He was also an enthusiastic dancer and an expert at playing Euchre, a card game he loved for its strategy and camaraderie.
