Myrtle G. Spencer Obituary

Myrtle Garnet Spencer, aged 71, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, in Pinconning, Michigan. Born on March 15, 1954, in Bay City, Michigan, to the late Nathaniel and Barbara (Kurzer) Whitman, Myrtle lived a life marked by passion, generosity, and love.

Myrtle's journey began alongside her siblings, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. Although she was preceded in death by her brother Alson Whitman and sisters Kathleen Whitman and Melody Nutkin, her cherished memories with them remained a source of strength and comfort throughout her life.

On June 2, 1972, Myrtle married the love of her life, John A. Spencer, and together they built a family founded on unwavering support and affection. Myrtle's legacy is carried on by her devoted husband John, her loving children Jonda (Charley) Zelek and John (Doni) Spencer Jr., and her adored grandchildren Tyler (Bree) Spencer, Maylin (Dylan) Spencer, Jacob (Courtney) Spencer, Allan (AJ) Rybkowski, Paige Protasiewicz, Bella Kolb, Aly Kolb, and great-granddaughter Jeralynn Miller. The family eagerly anticipates the arrival of great-grandson Tyler Spencer Jr.

Myrtle's familial circle extended to her mother-in-law Harriet Spencer, sister Millie Pitts, sisters-in-law Lynn Seelye and Debra Yankee, and brothers-in-law Richard Spencer and Clyde (Mary) Spencer, as well as many loved nieces and nephews who will miss her deeply.

Throughout her career, Myrtle was characterized as tough in the best way, with a steady, hardworking nature and a deeply committed spirit. Her unmatched work ethic and dedication earned her admiration from colleagues and friends alike. She was a pillar of the community, involved in various associations that benefited greatly from her steadfast participation.

Her interests were as warm and vibrant as her personality. Myrtle was known for her presence, particularly at the sidelines of countless sporting events, where she cheered on her family with unbridled enthusiasm. No sport or season could deter her from showing up for her loved ones, a testament to her loving heart and generous spirit.

Those who knew Myrtle best would describe her as a passionate individual who loved fiercely. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her love enveloped all who were fortunate enough to cross her path. Myrtle's ability to give of herself, to support and cherish those around her, was truly remarkable.

In addition to her human family, Myrtle leaves behind her fur babies, Missy and Ellie, who provided her with companionship and joy. Their wagging tails and soft purrs were a constant source of comfort and happiness in her life.
