Patrick Thomas Grzelak Obituary
Patrick Thomas Grzelak, a cherished father, grandfather, sibling, and friend, passed away on October 21, 2025, at the age of 67. Born in Wayne County, Michigan, on February 26, 1958, to the late Sylvester and Ann "Patricia" (Hughes) Grzelak, Patrick grew up in a bustling household that was always filled with love and laughter.
He is survived by his children, Lacy (Brandon) Koth, Erin (Kevin) Weishaupt, and Tricia Smith. His joyous spirit will continue to live on through his grandchildren, Addicyn Klopf and Palmer Koth, who were the apples of his eye. Patrick was also a stepfather to Rodney, Jolene, and Melissa. He shared a special bond with his siblings, Deanna Grzelak-McKay, Michael (Carolyn) Grzelak, Donna (Mike) Longuski, Toni (Ray) Stec, Frank (Victoria) Grzelak, and Mark Grzelak, and will be fondly remembered by his many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Patrick's life was enriched by his loving companion of 26 years, Julie, who predeceased him on July 25, 2025. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Marianne Grzelak.
Patrick's professional life was spent in the kitchen, a place where he felt most at home. He spent many years working at various restaurants, sharing his culinary talents with appreciative patrons. More recently, he worked at the Cabin in Linwood, where his love for cooking was matched only by his great camaraderie with his coworkers. Patrick's colleagues were not just people he worked with; they were his extended family, and he valued each relationship dearly.
Outside of work, Patrick had many interests that brought joy to his life. He was an avid fisherman, finding peace and solace by the water. His dog, Sadie, was a constant companion, and they could often be found playing together or taking leisurely walks. Before her passing, Patrick cherished every moment spent with Julie, and they made countless precious memories together.
Most of all, Patrick was a steadfast supporter of his grandchildren's endeavors, especially when it came to soccer. He never missed a game, always there on the sidelines, cheering them on with enthusiasm and pride.
