Edwin "Ed" Leamon Perry passed away on February 25th, 2025, at the age of 59 in his home in Plainwell, Michigan. Ed was born on May 26th, 1965, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Donna Jean (Smith) Perry and Otis Jackson Perry. Ed grew up in Kendall and began working at a young age with his father, installing carpet, a very physically demanding profession. He was a hard worker and was known for his work ethic and responsibility. He played football in high school and was an integral part of the team. He was universally liked by all different cliques in school and his prom dates described him as a gentleman and a fun date. He graduated from Gobles High School in 1983. After graduation, Ed went to Northwood University where he played college football for one season. He left Northwood and went back home to work as college did not fit into his life at the time. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1984 to 1988, stationed at Camp Pendleton in the first Marine division, seventh Marine regiment, second battalion. He was in weapons platoon and was an anti-tank Marine (dragon gunner). During those four years, he went overseas and visited places like Okinawa, Japan, Korea, and the Philippines. After his contract ended in 1988, he returned to civilian life where he worked in the carpet industry for the rest of his life. He touched many lives through his work and was known as a good friend and a kindhearted person, although stubborn to the core. Ed loved music and it was music that got him through many hard times. He loved to hunt and fish with his son and daughters. Family was extremely important to him and always came first. Ed was a dedicated father and grandfather and is survived by his sister Michelle, son Robert and five daughters Chelsea, Sydney, Rachel, Lynsey, and Braelin as well as his grandchildren Avery, Jackson, Greyson, Amil, Kayden, Aria, and Alexis.
