He was predeceased by: his parents, Norris Kane and Freda Kane; and his sister Lisa Miller. He is survived by: his wife Barbara G. Ruiz-Kane; his children, Locadio Ruiz, Anthony Ruiz, Genevieve Matheny (Michael), Keri Puckett (Christopher), Joseph Ropp Jr., Karrisa Kane (Mandy Marsh) and Javier Ruiz; his grandchildren, Locadio Ruiz Jr., Dominyk Ruiz, Soledad Cohen, Marisa Cohen, Adrianna Ruiz-Garza, Cameron Bouban, Analysia Bouban, Raquel Bouban, Hayley Ruiz, Alyssa Bouban, Parker Faber, Colton James Ropp and Christina Puckett; his great grandchildren, Aubrianna Ruiz, Malina Ruiz and Emilio James Cohen-Kane; and his brothers, Mark Kane and David Kane.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to Vickers Funeral Homes to help with Jim's final expenses.
