He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Bartley and Hazel "Babe" Bowman; his brother Donald "Dell" Bartley; and his nephew Eric Bartley. He is survived by: his brother Eric Bartley; his nephew Jacob Bartley (Courtney); his nieces, Katie Bartley (Nick) and Nichole Stewart; his great-niece Carissa Stewart; and his aunt Sharon Spencer.

Memorials may be made to the St. Clair County Veterans Council.

“He also is survived by a beautiful daughter, Nicole Lynn Bartley born 1979, his only child. I am remembering so many things as I write this like running around in that old Mustang that had lost reverse, wish I had it now. Frog gigging in waders up to my chin, smelt dipping, then frying them up right there on the bank, nothing ever tasted better. You rescued me when I needed it and we helped each other grow up. You will forever be a part of me and I thank you for our wonderful daughter. Rest now.”
