She was predeceased by: her parents, Cyril Essenmacher and Sarah Essenmacher; her son Dr. Charles Wessel; and her siblings, Alvin, Arnold, Ronald, Albert, Dennis, Michael, Susan Essenmacher, Collette Lohr, Rita Wiza, Regina Watchoski, Doris Gahn, Vivian Ennett and Linda Adams.
She is survived by: her children, Michael Wessel (Cheryl), Theresa Wessel, Susan Streeter (Chris), Gregory Wessel (Annalisa) and Carol Szewc (Ray); her daughter-in-law Susan Wessel; and her sisters, Luella Thompson, Coni Kaiser (Bob) and Lily Rader (Larry). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 29th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 at 10:30 AM. A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Parish (220 Church St, St Joseph, MI 49085).
Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Water Community Food Depot or St. Vincent de Paul Society.
