He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald F. McCarthy and Ann B. McCarthy (Derby); his wife Paula Fleckenstein; and his sisters, Marion Pritchett and Barbara Dunn.

He is survived by: his children, Guy (Lauren), Michael (Amanda) and Diana; his grandchildren, Jordan, Tyler, Nathan, Morgan, Madison, Max, Nolan, Savannah, Michael and Brody; and his sister Betty Muldoon. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family.
