Alfred C. Grosskurth Obituary
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. Alfred will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery, Kalamazoo. Memorials may be made to Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries, in c/o the funeral home.
Alfred Carl Grosskurth age 90 of Portage, passed away Friday afternoon, September 25, 2026. Alfred was born in Passaic, NJ on May 31, 1936, the son of Kuno Nicholas and Sophie (Jahn) Grosskurth. On February 20, 1966, he married Inara Elizabete Strupulis who survives him. Alfred proudly served his nation for 20 years in the United States Navy and then went on to have a career with the State of Michigan Department of Social Services. Alfred was laser focused on his family. Everything revolved around his love for them. Besides his wife, Alfred is survived by his children, John (Johanna) Grosskurth, Elizabeth Van Velzer, Charles Grosskurth, Robin Grosskurth, Renee Grosskurth, Ivan Grosskurth, Daniel Grosskurth; grandchildren, Alexandra (John) Doremus, Joshua Grosskurth, Carl Grosskurth; nieces and nephews; and many friends. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Steven Van Velzer; a brother, Kuno Grosskurth, Jr.; sister, Louise Agnes Moenke.
