He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles McClurg and Opal McClurg (Richardson); his son Claude; and his siblings, Charles McClurg, Mary McClurg and Micky Lamp.

He is survived by: his wife Cheryl; his children, Jason McClurg (Sarah), Jim McClurg, Marilyn Stratton (Colin Nicome), Darlene Crosby (Larry) and Holly Gilbert (Lavelle); his grandchildren, Jessica, Ethan, Elizabeth, Dimande, Shanice, Lavelle Jr., Ezariah, Vanessa, Haley, Landyn, Cierra, Nathaniel and Megan; and his siblings, Nancy Taylor, Linda Garland (Tommy) and Terry McClurg. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
