He was predeceased by: his parents, John Koning and Jennie Koning (Kloosterman); his stepmother Agnes Koning; his wife Wilma Schipper; his son-in-law Jim Meeuwse; and his siblings, Harriet Koetje, Dorothy Mejeur, Donald Koning and Eileen Potts.
He is survived by: his children, Jim Koning (Mary), Jenny Scheffers (Bernie) and Catherine Meeuwse; and his grandchildren, Ryan Koning (Kaitlin), Heather Paas (Michael), Stacey Cruz (Carlos), Lindsey Muller (Nick), Matt Scheffers (Liz), Kelly Montague, Holly Laird (Matthew), Eric Meeuwse and Megan Meeuwse. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Grace Christian Reformed Church (1724 Whites Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49008). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
