She was predeceased by: her parents, Peter Medema and Wilhelmina "Mina" Medema (Tuin); her grandfather Terry; her brothers, Herman and Wilbur; and her former husband Dick Swanson.
She is survived by: her children, David, Terry Swanson, Debbie and Stuart Smith; her grandchildren, Eric, Michelle Swanson, Monica and CJ Dodge; her great grandchildren, Elias, Madilyn Swanson, Carter and Chloe Dodge; and her sisters, Harriet, Dorothy and Margaret. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Home and Cremation Society (5975 Lovers Ln, Portage, MI 49002). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Hope Cemetery (8501 S 8th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009).
In lieu of flowers, memorials made in Jane's memory may be directed to the Kalamazoo Christian Schools Athletic Association.
