He was predeceased by : his parents, Abram Glas and Grace Glas (Smit); his wife Martha Korendyke; his son Roger; his son-in-law Randy VanderMay; his siblings, Abram Glas (Alida), Anne Glas, Jake Glas (Tres), Grace Mulder (Art), Jo Gritter (Arie), John Glas (Sena) and Nick Glas; and his parents-in-law, Harm Korendyke and Ben Korendyke.

He is survived by : his children, Don Glas (Miriam), Carl Glas (Jan), Charlie Glas (Deb), Marietta VanderMay and Ed Glas (Cathy); his grandchildren, Annalise (Andrew), Camilo (Kelly), Linnea, Isaac, Simeon, Shaleah, Jaxon, Rob (Amanda), Jaelynne (Casey), Rachel (Ben), Laura, Jake (Emma), Will, Lydia, Peter and Nathan; his great grandchildren, Obidiah, Leonidas and Theo; his sisters-in-law, Tina Dyxhoorn Hoiting, Clara Blackard (Randy) and Eena Korendyke; and his cousin Grace Pestoor (Jim). He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.

Sue Dale wrote a sympathy message

“So sad to hear of Joes passing. It has been a great gift to have found in living down the hall from my mom at Story Point after all these years. He was truly the kindest, sweetest man we have ever known. Was a delight having he and his sons build two of our wonderful homes. Our condolences to the family! Sue and Chuck Dale”
