A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Friday May 22, 2026 at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home. Interment will be at Mt. Ever-Rest memorial Park.
Lynnet E. Bennett, age 84 of Portage, passed away Sunday May 3, 2026, at Centrica Rose Arbor Place. Lynnett was born August 22, 1941, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Carlton and Violet (Cross) Groesbeck. She was a 1959 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and retired from the Secretary of State's Office. Lynnet was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi with many of her sorority sisters, and she was an avid bridge player. On July 13, 1984, Lynnet was united in marriage to Milton Bennett who preceded her in death on April 6, 2025. Also preceding her in death are her parents; son, Craig McIlroy; grandson, Jimmy Baker; brother, Rodney Groesbeck. Surviving are two children, Michele McIlroy-Leonard, Kurt McIlroy; two stepchildren, David Bennett, Diane Bennett; two grandchildren, Jason McIlroy, Kaylee (Nathan) McIlroy-Tipton; two nephews, Jeffrey & Todd Groesbeck.
