He was predeceased by: his parents, James Carns and Bertha Carns; and his sister Marilyn Ely. He is survived by: his siblings, Roger Carns, Ires June Carns and Irene Waanders; his wife Mary Ann; his children, Nancy (Mark Scafaria) and Steve Carns; and his granddaughters, Melissa, Hannah, Stephanie Scafaria and Sidonia Carns.
The family has asked that donations be made in memory of Sidney Carns to Michigan State University allocated to the Alumni Association mailed to Michigan State University, 535 Chestnut Rd, Room 300, East Lansing, MI 48824, and or Centrica Care Navigators then mailed to Kalamazoo office at 7100 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
