He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Julius and Catherine Thelen (Cook); his wife Sue Ellen Thelen (Knudsen); his brother Ronald Thelen (Coralee); his brother-in-law David Hall (Diane); and his nephew Jason Bauer (Dawn).
He is survived by: his close friend Bob; his children, Steven Thelen (Laurie) of Royal Oak and Teresa Elliott (Tom) of St. Johns; his grandson Nathan Elliott of Traverse City; his daughters, Amanda Jones of Kalamazoo and Chelsea Thelen of Royal Oak; his siblings, Daniel Thelen (Carol) of DeWitt, Roger Thelen (Diane) of Fowler, Wayne Thelen (Elaine) of Williamston, Diane Hall of Williamston and Sue Bauer (Dan) of Williamston; his stepson Kim Kiwala (Kimberly); and his friends, Amanda Paulson, Elizabeth Knowles, Steve Kranz and Doug Crisp. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
