He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Geraldine Vankerschaever and Cyriel Vankerschaever; his wife Susan; his children, Brittany Handa (Jeremy), Paul (Stacey) and Joshua; his grandchildren, Blake, Liam, Leland, Carter and Ella; his siblings, Janice, Randy (Lynda), Jill and Geralyn (Mikel Bresee); and his sons, Vasu and Rodgers. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the A. J. Desmond & Sons - Woodward (32515 Woodward Ave, Royal Oak, MI 48073). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
