She was predeceased by: her parents, John Schafer and Effie Schafer (Hauck); her spouse Glenn Eugene Blackmer (Gene); and her siblings, Lawrence, Charles Schafer, Edna Theisen, Renelda Klumpp, Rita Sheppard, Catherine Clevenger and Esther McNamara.

She is survived by: her children, Rebecca "Becky" Kurtz of Remus, Dave Blackmer (Wendy) of Elwell, Mark Blackmer (Paula) of Remus, Jeff Blackmer (Mary Jane) of Mt. Pleasant, Kent Blackmer of Remus and Lynn Aiken (Doug) of Bitely. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
