He is survived by: his children, Michael Kemppainen (Judy), Krin Kemppainen, Robert Kemppainen, Kasondra "Kay" Schroeder (Steve) and Moira Bazhenow (Greg "Chip"); his sister Helen Johnson; his grandchildren, Tristan Kemppainen, Laura Nardi, Kourtney Bazhenow and Milton Champlin; and his great grandchildren, Bristol and Eli. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Roy to Bethany Lutheran Church in Republic or to the Bay Cliff Health Camp.
