Norma Jean Sargent Obituary
Norma Jean Sargent, age 84, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, in Rhodes, Michigan. Born on October 10, 1940, in Pinconning, Michigan, Norma was the cherished daughter of the late Floyd and Virginia (Kowaleski) Peters. Her life was a vibrant tapestry woven with the love of family, the joy of simple pleasures, and the dedication to her community.
On February 23, 1990, Norma married, Robert Sargent, and together they shared 35 years. Norma's legacy continues through her beloved children Connie (Gerald) Genow, Ginny (Thomas) Phinney, and Kevin (Daniel) Morris. She was the proud grandmother to Andrew (Val) Morris, Jared Genow, Evan (Heather) Phinney, and Erika (Angel) Rodriguez, and the great-grandmother to Ila and Caleb Morris, Rosslyn and Samantha Phinney, as well as Dominik, Caden, and Bailey Rodriguez. Norma was a dear sister to Barbara (Jerry) Isettes and Sheila Russell. She was preceded in death by her children's father, Paul Morris, and her brother-in-law, Reggie Russell.
For over 28 years, Norma served with distinction as a school bus driver for the Pinconning Area School District. Her dedication to the safety and well-being of countless children earned her the respect and affection of the community. Norma's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. She was an avid bowler, her laughter echoing through the alleys as she celebrated both strikes and spares alike. Bingo nights were a highlight, where she reveled in the camaraderie and gentle competition. Norma's love for crossword puzzles reflected her sharp mind and love for a challenge, while her enthusiasm for playing the slots at the casino was unmatched. An ardent fisherwoman, Norma found serenity and joy by the water, a pastime that offered her moments of reflection and contentment. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 15, 2025, at 12 noon from the Lee- Ramsay Funeral Home with Pastor Russ Schmidt presiding with burial in Pinconning Township Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday, from 10 am until time of service.
