We announce the death of Robert Alan DeJonghe of Ridgeway, Michigan, who passed away on September 30, 2026, at the age of 82. Robert will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert R. DeJonghe and Rose Marie DeJonghe; his siblings, Richard DeJonghe, Sharon DeJonghe and Sylvia DeJonghe; his brother-in-law Jerry Hawkins; and his nephews, Barry Hawkins, Steven DeJonghe and Brian Hawkins.
He is survived by: his daughters, Susan (DeJonghe) and Amy Jo DeJonghe; his former wife Ellen Cubberly (Spreeman); his grandchildren, Miranda Vazquez (Elizer), Melissa Richardson-Aguirre (RJ), Jessica Richardson (Brian) and Justin Richardson (Heather); his girlfriend Sharon Shures; his partner's children, Phillip Shures (Mary) and Rebeca Denike (Rusty); and his siblings, Alan DeJonghe, David DeJonghe (Jana), Dennis DeJonghe (Patty), Edwin DeJonghe, Rosalie Hawkins, Annette Phelps (Tom), Rosemary DeJonghe (Marc), Kathleen Eberle (Randy), DeeDee Cupp (Gary), Julia Waters (Chuck), Janice Hoffman and Sandra DeJonghe. He is also survived by two grand children, and 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews.
Viewing will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, October 10th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Purse Funeral Home (2959 N Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI 49221). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
