He was predeceased by : his parents, Ina Hutchinson and Huse Johnson; his siblings, James Johnson and Alice Gerred; his son Robert Louis; and his wives, Betty Gilbert and Joy Johnston.

He is survived by : his children, William Johnson Jr. (Julie), Brenda Maynard (David) and Christine Culli (Kevin); and his brothers, Huse Johnson and Bruce Johnson. He is also survived by his stepfamily members, and many nieces and nephews.
