He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Donahue and Shirley Donahue (Kenrick); his wife Diane Donahue; his daughter Haley Cook (Korey); and his siblings, Carol Ruby (Carl), Ken Donahue (Terri), Paul Donahue (Angie), Norm Ellsasser (Teresa) and Joe Ellsasser (Jill). He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and special friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's honor to St. John Lutheran Church's All2Jesus Expansion Fund or to the Michigan Humane Society.
