He is survived by: his wife Linda Zagel; his stepchildren, Sandy Buchanich (Gary), Chad Zagel (Ellie) and Jonathan Zagel (Alicia); his stepgrandchildren, Steven Zagel, Linus and Matilda Zagel; his sister Susan Rawson; his niece Lisa Schwichtenberg; and his nephews, Steve Wasechek and Jacob Wasechek.
