He is survived by: his daughters, Mary Ashley (Aron Bonk), Lisa Root (Craig) and Jillean Frey; his siblings, Joyce Evans (Joe Snyr), Billy and Alvin; his grandchildren, Emma Sue Ashley, Ava Ashley-Bonk, Benny and Jamie Frey; his great grandchildren, Jillean Pielecha and Cosmo Frey; his nieces and nephews, Christin, Jerry, Jr., Sherry, Crystal, Billy, Jr., Tricia, Leann, Ellen, Richard, Jr., Jackie, Ryan, Andrea, Jennifer, Hanna, Danny and Eric; and his great-niece Rowen.
A reception was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 from 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Merkle Funeral Service (36885 Goddard Rd, Romulus, MI 48174).
