Sonya Maria Gee Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sonya Maria Gee of Romulus, Michigan, who passed away on July 27, 2025, at the age of 61, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As we bid farewell to this luminous soul, let her loved ones carry forward the torch of her memory, illuminating the path ahead with the warmth of her love and the brilliance of her spirit. Though Sonya Maria may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, her essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.

She was predeceased by: her father William Gee; and her grandparents, Mary, Carl Bartosek, Maxie and Mabel Gee.

She is survived by: her mother Sylvia Gee (Bartosek) of Livonia; her siblings, Bill Gee of Livonia, Chris Gee of Belleville and Stephanie Gee of Ferndale; and her siblings' children, Jessica Taylor of Blacksburg and Christopher Jr. of Belleville, Michigan.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the L. J. Griffin Funeral Home (7707 Middlebelt Rd, Westland, MI 48185). The lying in state will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Mary Catholic Church (34530 Michigan Ave, Wayne, MI 48184). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
