He was predeceased by: his mother Laura; and his son Thomas. He is survived by: his wife Margaret (McCann); his children, Shannon Schafer (John), John "Jack" (Ann Marie), Chris and Andrew; his grandchildren, John "Jay" Schafer (Kierste), Lisa Schafer Goodenough (Dave), Bradley Schafer (Emily), Elizabeth Schultz (James), Jennifer Yoshida (Mike) and Adam (Cassie); and his sons, Vasu and Rodgers.
