He was predeceased by: his parents, Ignacio II and Maria Cantu; his son Benito Ignacio Cantu; his wife Sylvia Peña-Cantu; his former wife Melva Guerra; his sisters, Juanita Rentería (Robert) of Javier and Alicia Duval (Dan); and his stepgrandchild Reco.
He is survived by: his children, Sabrina Cantu Burda, Christina Ann Cantu and Marcus Joseph Peña (Jennifer); his daughter-in-law Patricia Ana Cantu; his siblings, Lou Cantu, Aurora Barron, Ignacio Cantu III (Kim) and Marta Sanchez (Chris); his mother-in-law Sara Peña; his grandchildren, Demitri, Isabella, Bryce, Becca, Penelope, Jacob, Jordan, Marcella, Vivian and Avery; and his stepgrandson David. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, June 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Cederberg Brietzke Funeral Home (403 N Michigan Ave, Saginaw, MI 48602). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Cederberg-Brietzke Funeral Home (403 N Michigan Ave, Saginaw, MI 48602). A committal service will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Great Lakes National Cemetery (4200 Belford Rd, Holly, MI 48442).
