It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ed win R. Smekar in Saginaw, Michigan, who passed away on July 6, 2023, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Smekar and Louise Smekar (Mearing); and his brother Ronald Smekar. He is survived by: his wife Katherine "Kay" Smekar; his daughters, Janet Smekar and Becky (Joshua Averill); his grandchildren, Bramwell and Belle Miller; and his siblings, Margaret Smekar, Frank Smekar and Steve Smekar.
Friends may visit at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. The family requests no flowers. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
